New Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Trailer
Love them or hate them the Resident Evil films are easily the most successful videogame to film franchise out there, and after many years and countless sequels we’re finally at the apparent end. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is almost upon us, and now a trailer is here to let us know what is in sort.
The sixth instalment in the franchise it will follow the final action packed adventure of Alice (Milla Jovovich), as she makes one last stand to takedown the Umbrella Corporation and the legions of the undead walking the earth. To do this she must return to the place where it began The Hive facility underneath Raccoon City. And from what we see she’s going to be fighting like crazy to succeed.
The trailer opens with Alice on an Umbrella Corp motorcycle heading down a war torn highway. She passes under a sign that reads ‘Welcome to Raccoon City. Home of Umbrella’, making it clear that this is going to be a cut off the head sort of deal. We’re then given a shot of Alice as she steps to the camera and says “Welcome Home”, before seeing what remains of the city. Next we meet the Red Queen in a lab, who appears to be assisting Alice with her mission to save the world. After this the rest of the trailer pretty much consists of chases, explosions, a lot of gun fire, and hand to hand combat. There are glimpses of other characters include the returning Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), Dr. Alexander Issaccs (Iain Glen) and Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts), but the focus is primarily kept on Alice. Guns ‘N’ Roses Paradise City fits in perfectly as the soundtrack considering the trailer really hits home the fact that everything has come full circle, with the fight against Umbrella and the T-Virus essentially ending where it all began.
Now we all know the films in this franchise aren’t highly anticipated like those in the MCU, but at the end of the day it has lasted longer than all other videogame to film adaptation. And by now we should all have come to the conclusion that the Resident Evil films are just action filled chaos with zombies and monsters thrown in. And that is what this trailer gives us. So yeah.
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not it will actually be worth watching, as it would be great for the franchise to end on a high note. Still, the question at this point is when you see a trailer for these films are you excited, disappointed, or are you just indifferent?
Resident Evil: The final Chapter comes to theatres February 24, 2017.
