Konami Reveals Metal Gear Survive
Konami have had a bit of a rough year. If by ‘a bit’ we mean ‘managing to cause most of the internet gaming community to unite in utter hatred against them’. It could have something to do with respected video game auteur Hideo Kojima’s unceremonious dumping from the company and from the front box art of his own creation, Metal Gear Solid V, then being legally prohibited by Konami from picking up an award for the very game he’d brought to shop shelves. It might also have something do do with cancelling one of the most anticipated horror games in years, Silent Hills, leaving its shepard, acclaimed film director Guillermo Del Toro unsure whether he’d ever delve into video game development again. That’s not even touching on rumours of utterly abysmal working conditions for those attempting to bring games like Metal Gear Solid V to the general public. Whatever the reasons, and there have been many, over the past 12 months the Japanese studio has run headfirst into press nightmare after press nightmare.
So after a year that most games companies would struggle to recover from it’s with a bit of shock that, thanks to an IGN exclusive, we can bring you the new trailer for ‘Metal Gear Survive’. You read that right, Konami is releasing another Metal Gear game. Less than a year after it’s hugely anticipated 5th installment. One not under the stewardship of its now-independent creator Hideo Kojima, and one that is apparently a ‘four player stealth co-op game’. With crystal zombies.
So…that was Metal Gear Survive! Love it? Hate it? Drowning in a sea of apathy? Let us know what you thought!
