Google Confirms Project Ara Is No More
Project Ara was a very interesting idea which would allow the owner of the phone to upgrade parts instead of changing phone, this would mean your phone components is personal to your needs. The project was originally designed to help the environment as owners would never need to throw away their phone and in theory you could keep a stack or components for different needs, out for a long day add a bigger battery, going on a nature walk add a better camera.
This year saw Google show off Project Ara in its pre-release form and even though the idea is one many people were looking forward to users found it to be lacking in different ways. Even with this mediocre reception Google promised to push on with the project. Today Google have gone back on their word and decided not to put Project Ara in to manufacture, this does not mean that this is the end of the line as Google have a history of working on projects which they have cancelled such as Google Glass. One thing that wouldn’t surprise us is Ara being manufactured by another company such as Google has done with its previous Nexus devices.
