John Wick: Chapter 2 Teaser Trailer
During this year’s New York Comic-Con we were give a glimpse at what we can expect from the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 2. And from what we have been given it is clear that the epic has been upped.
The first film was well received when it was released back in 2014, and after a sequel was announced fans were left wondering some things. 1) What will it be about? 2) Will it be as good as the original? 3) Will his new dog die like the first one?
While on a panel at NYCC screenwriter Derek Kolstad gave some insight into the next chapter. He explained “John Wick: Chapter 2 takes place arguably a week after the the first one. There’s this item called a Marker, which is regulated by The Continental, and it’s kind of a blood oath, meaning that John Wick gave someone the ultimate request so that he could get out of the life. And because he’s resurfaced, they have resurfaced to actually cash it in. But John Wick is changed.” When it came to the matter of the dog he was not so forthcoming saying that whatever does happen to the dog “It’s great.”
From the trailer we can see that John (Keanu Reeves) is not just out from revenge this time, but is now on a mission. At the beginning we see him getting fitted for suit. When he is asked about the style he just says “Tactical”. We are then give a variety of call backs to the first film such as the dog, his car, and the Hotel Manager behind the desk at The Continental Hotel. After this we are treated to the badass gun-fu that John is known for, and how awesomely ruthless he is in a fight. During the last few moments we are given a mini Matrix reunion when The Bowler King (Laurence Fishburne) and John meet up on a roof top. Finally we are shown a shot of John in a ballroom where he pulls out his gun and the crowd runs scared.
We can never say until a film is officially in theatres whether or not it is going to be good, but from what this trailer shows us we are not going to be disappointed.
John Wick: Chapter 2 will be hitting theatres February 17, 2017.
