Tim Miller Developing Sonic The Hedgehog Film With Sony
Director Tim Miller (Deadpool) has joined Sony as an executive producer to develop a live-action-CG hybrid of the popular video game Sonic the Hedgehog.
Blur Studio’s Jeff Fowler is currently attached to direct and will be overseeing the development of the project. He will be working with Blur co-founder Miller as the two team up with Fast and Furious franchise producer Neal H. Moritz. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller have been brought on to write the script. Marza’s Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi will be joining Moritz as producers, and Toby Ascher is also executive producing. DJ2 Entertainment’s Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will be serving as co-producers.
When talking about Fowler Miller said “Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts. The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for Jeff to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.” Sonic has been one of the world’s biggest gaming icons for many years, having more than 350 million units of games associated with the character sold. With so many studios trying to get film adaptations of video game off the ground it will be interesting to see how Sonic will be translated into live-action.
